CSSU Buccaneers Youth Football was started in 2004 for fifth through eight graders by Jay Michaud, who was the then-acting coach of the CVU Club Football Team, as a feeder program to the CVU program.
2005: The Palmer family offered the Buccaneers the opportunity to practice and play football on their land off of Shelburne Falls Road in Hinesburg. All practices and home games are played on Palmer Field.
2006: A Flag team was created to offer players in 3rd and 4th grade the chance to learn and play football. Also, in 2006, the organization incorporated, applied for, and eventually received tax exempt status.
2016: Our Founders son, Nick Michaud, took over as Head coach for the 7/8 team. That same year the Bucs won their first ever State Championship!
Today: Our players benefit from the efforts of all of those involved in the past. Many players continue on to participate with the Champlain Valley Union Redhawks Team.
The CSSU Buccaneers Youth Football, Inc.’s football program is operated for the benefit of the youth of the Chittenden South Supervisory Union school district (the towns of Hinesburg, Charlotte, Shelburne, Williston, and includes St. George). Our objectives include providing youth, regardless of sex, race, creed, or nation of origin, the opportunity to play football for fun in a positive and safe environment. We strive to teach each participant the fundamentals of football as well as the importance and pride in sportsmanship, teamwork, self-discipline, physical fitness, friendship, leadership, and other beneficial life skills. Above all, the safety of each player is our number one priority.
The CSSU Buccaneers is all volunteer program and it takes a village! Giving an hour here and there not only assures that our players are supported but it helps us provide them with a positive and high-quality program! Even if you are not sure where or how you may volunteer, adding your name is the first step and we greatly appreciate your help!
